| Abstract | Warfarin is an anticoagulant that is used for the prevention of thromboembolism in various indications. The data showed that there was a relation between renal function and warfarin use. Warfarin could reduce thromboembolism and stroke in patients with non-end-stage renal disease. But the efficacy of warfarin decreased in patients with end-stage renal disease with or without renal replacement therapy. In addition, patients with renal insufficiency took risks of bleeding more than patients with normal renal function. The most bleeding occurred via the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, patients with chronic kidney disease should be closely monitored. |
