Abstract Color concept constructed from social, philosophy and cultural factors. Since Chinese primitive era, Chinese concepts of color for ancient men represented through colors on the pre-historic pottery. Color concept also related to social beliefs as shown in ancient tomb wall-paintings. During feudal era, color in Chinese painting reflected the changes of dynasty. The concept of Chinese color generated from experience, perception and interpretation. The meaning of same color might vary to different factors by various meaning and values. Thus, the study of color concept in Chinese culture not only show the representation of objects, symbols, emotions and social phenomena, but also reflect the Chinese paradigm through art, language and folklore.
