| Abstract | This study aims to investigate test takers'strategies for the reading section of the Test of Englishfor Thai Engineers and Technologists, or TETET,which is an innovative computer-based English forSpecific Purposes (ESP) proficiency test. Five fourthyearundergraduate students who obtained overallhigh scores, particularly in the reading section, wereselected to participate in the study. A stimulated recallinterview and the reading section of the TETET wereused as the two main instruments. The strategy rubricby Cohen and Upton (2006) was adopted in order toanalyse the data. The results revealed that testmanagementstrategies were the most frequently usedstrategy type across all sub- sections of the TETETreading section, while test-wiseness strategies werethe least frequently used strategy type. In addition, there was concordance between the types of strategiesused and the item types in the sub-sections. Theseresults provide evidential base for the constructvalidity of the TETET reading section and can be usedas insights for further test development and revision. |
