| Abstract | 'Student-generated review questions' is aclassroom technique in which one or more studentsare assigned the task of writing a set of questionsbased on what was studied during a class. Thesequestions are shown to all of the students at thebeginning of the next class, and then discussed inpairs or small groups. The current study exploredstudent perceptions of the technique. The studentgeneratedreview questions activity was run regularlythroughout an entire semester with three classes ofundergraduate students in a university in Bangkok. At the end of the semester, these students completeda questionnaire comprising Likert scale andqualitative questions. Students reported thatpreparing and answering the review questionsenhanced their recall and understanding of coursecontent, as well as their sense of engagement andmotivation. I conclude that the technique isperceived by students to be beneficial, and provide recommendations for how it can be implemented byother teachers. |
