| Abstract | Communication mobility has been suggested as anelement of the complex construct of professionalcommunicative competence, with a shared core of English inthe oral mode, for professional international communication. This study aims (1) to investigate the possible correlationbetween the perceived level of communication mobility, andthe influence of the personality factors of non-native Englishspeaking Thai professionals in international companies, and(2) to identify the conditions in which this desirable qualitymay be developed. The researchers are interested in gaugingthe level of communication mobility, as well as looking for thepossible relationships between its development and thepersonality factors of these professionals, such as age, workexperience, and the frequency of English language use in theirdaily lives and in the workplace. The responses to thespecifically designed questionnaire were obtained from 54Thai professionals working in international companies. Thefindings revealed that the participants were effective users ofcommunication mobility, and only the frequency of Englishlanguage use in their workplaces can explain the varianceof their perceived communication mobility. |
