Abstract Fluency in reading is critical for becoming asuccessful reader and strongly correlates withreading comprehension. Fluency in reading refersto appropriate reading speed, accurate wordrecognition, appropriate phrasing, and appropriateexpression when reading orally. Reader's Theater(RT) is a reading instructional method that requiresreaders to read aloud from scripts. It is recognizedas a method that helps develop reading fluency ofL1 and ESL/EFL learners of different levels ofproficiency. RT also incentivizes and persuadeslearners to re-read the same text several times.This paper will explore the benefits of RT as well assuggestions about how it could be applied as analternative tool for fluency instructions in the ThaiEFL context.
