Abstract Bio-Diversities and the abundance of wildlife, animal and plants are one of the most important natural resource of the nation as well as the indicator for the quality of environment of that nation. In Thailand, the forest area, which are inhabitats for wild animal has declined dramatically in the last decades which affect in the declining of number and species of wild animal living in those areas. There are many factors involved such as economics, socio-psychology, academics and politics. This paper will aim to study the impact of policies of the state sector on conserving wildlife as well as comparing with the practices in other countries in order to propose the suitable guideline in formulating wildlife conservation policies. In this study, 5 sets of questionnaires will be used to survey the opinions of those, who works in wildlife conservation namely, policy makers, operators, academics, NGOs and law enforcement officers. The operators, academics and NGOs pointed out that the policies regarding wildlife conservation varied slightly among the governments and have no significant impacts in wildlife conservation. On the contrary, policy maker and law enforcement officers believe that state policies are key success to the wildlife conservation in Thailand. Moreover, they indicated that the roles of politicians, both in local and national levels, can obstruct the wildlife conservation efforts due to their connections with politicians and cabinet members. They also agree that the agencies in charge of wildlife conservation can not operate with full efficiency due to the lack of personal, equipments, weapon, budget and know-how. It is important to educate the local community about the essence of the forest and wildlife and to conserve them. At the top level, the government must truly put their effort in conserving endangered species as well as provide the relating agencies with personal, equipment, budget and most importantly the know-how so they can work effectively.
