| Abstract | 3x3 basketball is a fast-paced sport that requires high levels of agility and quick movement. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a specific plyometric training program on the agility of 3x3 basketball players. Specifically: 1) to compare pre- and post- experiment agility of the experimental and control groups, and 2) to compare agility after the experiment between the experimental and control groups. This study employed a quasi-experimental research design. The participants consisted of 30 secondary school 3x3 basketball players from a school under the Bangkok Secondary Educational Service Area. The participants were divided into an experimental group and a control group of 15 each using a matching technique based on pretest scores, followed by simple random sampling. The research instruments consisted of a specific plyometric training program conducted for eight weeks, three sessions per week, and an agility t-test. The results revealed that: 1) after the experiment, the experimental group demonstrated significantly improved agility compared with the pretest. The mean agility score improved from 12.45 seconds (SD = 1.69) to 11.53 seconds (SD = 1.36), with a statistically significant difference at the .05 level (t = 7.568, p < .001) and 2) After the experiment, the experimental group showed significantly better agility performance than the control group. The experimental group recorded a mean score of 11.53 seconds (SD = 1.36), whereas the control group recorded a mean score of 12.58 seconds (SD = 1.69), with a statistically significant difference at the .05 level (t = -1.868, p = .036). |
