| Abstract | The article analyzes some of the existing translations into English of two key writers of Spanish feminist narratives, Esther Tusquets and Rosa Montero, in the light of the vast critical coverage of their work articulated by Anglo-American academia. Specifically, the paper aims to show that the texts’ feminist value, which is customarily underscored by critics in the secondary literature, is substantially neutralized in the translations by dint of a variety of strategies, here disclosed through an exercise of textual juxtaposition. Of central concern to the article is the foregrounding of translational analysis in the study of critical trends, with a view to problematizing the apparent transparency implicit in the international movement of cultural goods. |
