| Abstract | From the past to present;Phitsanulok is one of role models in urban public transport;as it provides public transport;which are operated by private sectors;to serve customers in and around the city. However;the ridership of the existing public bus system is decreasing to ! percent of all trips. Therefore;this study aims to explore major causes of the decreasing;and for doing this an analytical hierarchy process (AHP) were employed as an analytical framework. The questionnaire survey was designed into two sets 1) questionnaire survey for determining general characteristics of both users and non-users and the important influenced factors and 2) questionnaire survey for comparing weight of the selected influenced factors and six existing transportation modes. The results from this study could be applied to develop the optimal plan for improving the existing public bus system of Phitsanulok province. The developed plan could be beneficial to preserve or increase the ridership percentage of the public buses resulting in energy saving for better future |
