| Abstract | The development of democracy in developing countries is an essential process for creating a fair and equitable society, particularly in the context of Thailand, which has a complex political history. Following the change of government in 1932, Thailand transitioned to a constitutional monarchy, yet it continues to face challenges from coups, political conflicts, and the military's influential role in political interventions. The instability within the democratic system adversely affects political participation, especially among marginalized groups. The development of democracy requires strengthening political institutions and governance that respect citizens' rights. Political participation and power accountability are crucial factors in building confidence in the democratic regime. Additionally, the use of information technology and social media plays an important role in stimulating public engagement.Comparisons with other developing countries reveal that Thailand has opportunities for democratic development, but it must confront several challenges. Therefore, establishing robust mechanisms to support citizen participation and political stability will be vital strategies for fostering sustainable democracy in the future. |
