| Abstract | The topic of this study, "A comparative study of the usage of Russian vocabulary and foreign language vocabulary in social, economic and political aspects in modern Russian language through a usage of a Russian online newspaper "?????????? ??????" (Rossiyskaya gazeta) in the 21st century (2016-2020)," is intended to present the trend of using foreign vocabulary in modern Russian in the Russian online newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta, which is one of the most popular online newspapers in Russia. The emphasis of this study is focused on the collection of examples of social, economic and political vocabulary. These groups of words play a very important role in people's daily lives and are widely used. The research results have found that foreign language words or loanwords are being extensively used in modern Russian language. These loanwords have gradually been adjusted to suit the characteristics of the Russian language system. The adjustments can be categorized into a spelling adjustment, a pronunciation adjustment, a meaning adjustment, and a morphological adjustment. The foreign terms from English, French, German, Italian, and Polish are commonly found and used in the Russian language. Among these technical terms, foreign economic terms are the most used loanwords in Russian, followed by political and social terms. The use of social, economic, and political loanwords in the Russian language is essential to create a mutual understanding in international communications. |
