| Abstract | Availability of developmentally competent buffalo oocytes is critical for in vitro embryo production and application of related biotechniques. The objective of the present study was to assess the effect of BSA in place of FCS as maturation medium supplement on in vitro maturation buffalo oocytes. Oocytes were aspirated from abattoir ovarian follicles of 2-8 mm diameter followed by maturation in TCM-199 supplemented with hCG, PMSG and containing either 0.4 percent BSA (group-I) or 10 percent FCS (group-II). Based on cumulus expansion maturation rate, it was assessed that among the two groups, Group 2 showed signifi cantly higher percentage values (89.1+-3.5 percent) as compared to Group 1 (73.9+-4.2 percent). |
