Abstract This study aimed to investigate the growth performance and nutritional composition of sea lettuce, Ulva rigida, cultivated using three fertilizer formulations: a control treatment (16-16-16 fertilizer), T1 (46-0-0 fertilizer combined with 16-20-0 fertilizer), and T2 (46-0-0 fertilizer combined with 16-16-16 fertilizer). The results showed that sea lettuce cultured with the control and T2 treatments, both containing potassium (K), exhibited significantly higher average biomass (1,024.70 ± 25.46 g and 1,022.26 ± 40.85 g, respectively) than that cultured with the T1 treatment (850.16 ± 34.56 g) (P<0.05). These findings indicate that potassium plays an important role in the growth of sea lettuce. Regarding nutritional composition, sea lettuce cultured with the control and T1 treatments showed significantly higher average protein contents than that cultured with the T2 treatment (P<0.05), with mean values of 25.35 ± 0.66% and 24.59 ± 0.33%, respectively. In contrast, lipid, ash, and moisture contents did not differ significantly among treatments (P>0.05), with lipid contents ranging from 0.28–0.39%, ash contents from 3.70–4.21%, and moisture contents from 85.78–88.68%. In conclusion, sea lettuce can grow effectively in fertilizer formulations containing potassium, which significantly enhances biomass production.
