| Abstract | Objective: This study aimed at studying Ismail Lutfi Japakiya’s goals of education, educational provision and concept of Mu‘allim Rabbani (Teacher of the Sustainer).Methodology: The study was qualitative research. Data gained from the documentary study that was focused on the primary documents written by Ismail Lutfi Japakiya himself particularly his works which were relevant to the concept of education, educational model and characteristics of teachers. Main books of focus were Mu‘allim Rabbani, Revelation, Ummat Wahidah (one nation) and Let Be Brothers. Data was analyzed via content analysis and its presentation through descriptive manner.Research Findings: Lutfi Japakiya’s goals of education aim at knowing Allah, believing in Allah to gain goodness, stable dignity both in this world and hereafter not for gaining worldly benefit. Educational provision should be provided in three forms, namely: listening, understanding and practicing. Besides these, measurement and evaluation need to be practiced contentiously. Regarding Mu‘allim Rabbani, it has the following characteristics: 1) Faham. It means understanding, possessing knowledge and understanding in many fields including knowledge on the Quran, Sunnah and specific areas of knowledge. 2) Characteristics of being the Nabi, namely, Sidq, Tabligh, Fatonah and Amanah. 3) Possessing good Akhlaq, for example, patience, kindness, love, care, responsibility and respecting others. All these characters needed to be possessed by all teachers.Application: Applying Mu‘allim Rabbani characteristics to be possessed by teachers in every educational institution. |
