| Abstract | Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common disorder of reproductive-agedwomen. Common clinical symptoms of PCOS include menstrual irregularities,hyperandrogenism and obesity. Long-term sequelae include anovulatory infertility,endometrial carcinoma, and an increased risk for cardiovascular disease due to type 2diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, and hypertension. The PCOS is diagnosed by theRotterdam criteria and other diseases must be excluded. The current understanding andmanagement of PCOS are discussed in this article. |
