| Abstract | Health problems had affected to students very much, especially child development.The effects were poor learning, emotional change, illness and delay growth. This study was tocollect problems and set priority then to compare health problems according to gender andclass.The cross sectional study was done between December, 2004 and February, 2005.The data collected from students in primary school and early secondary school in Ongkharakdistrict, Nakhon Nayok province. Their ages ranged from 6 years old to 18 years old, totally7,428 from the whole approximately 9,000. The dataset composed of class, age, gender,weight, height, visual acuity by Snellen's chart, hearing test by portable audiometry, earexamination by otoscopy, physical examination by Pediatrician, hematocrit and blood groupby capillary tube. Body mass index was classified by World Health Organization criteria. Theresult was that the prevalence of dental caries was 88.63% and was found the most; the laterwere rhinitis (28.61%), underweight (17.64%), anemia (15.43%), head louse (14.68%),impacted cerumen (12.08%), hearing impairment (10.11%) and tongue tie (7.81%),respectively. The boys had dental caries, rhinitis, underweight, anemia and tongue tie morethan girls. And the girls had head louse, impacted cerumen and hearing impairment more thanboys. The early primary school students had more health problems than others. So Healthscreening should be done in this group especially. |
