| Abstract | Prostate cancer, the most common man's cancer, is a slowing growingdeadly cancer with very few signs and symptoms in the early stage. Prostate speciflcantigen (PsA) IS the proteolytic enzyme produced exclusively by human prostaticepithelial cells. PSA is the best and one of the most useful tumor markers currentlyavailable in all of oncology for diagnosis, staging, monitoring, providing an objectivemeasure of treatment efficacy, progress and recurrence of the prostate cancer andcomparing various treatment modalities. PSA test is easy, repeatable, non-tnvaslveand effective enough to be a valuable tool for practising physician, particularly whenused with digital rectal examination (DRE) in detecting early prostate cancer. Thereare some limitations of its use. |
