Abstract The tendency of materialism is making its roots deeper among adolescents around the world. Similarly, it is a threat for Pakistani youth to lose their cultural and religious values. The study intends to use several factors to predict materialism among adolescents in Pakistan. To find the relationship between the variables such as gender, age, communication with peers, consumption pattern, self-esteem and attention to advertising, the study has been conducted in which questions were asked from young people of different universities to analyze how society and their parents have influence on the development of young generation. Results showed that our young generation is influenced by materialism and that can be seen in their consumption pattern of everyday life.
