| Abstract | Introduction: Phytoestrogens are a group of compounds from plants, which have estrogenic effect. Depending on chemical structure, these compounds are classified as isoflavones, coumestans and lignans groups. Many studies have shown that phytoestrogens can be used for treatment of postmenopausal. This research aims to study the estrogenic effects on estrogen-dependent tissues of phytoestrogen extraction of Thai medicinal plants in Ubon Ratchatani province. Methods: Wean ovariectomized mice were administered of herbal extracts at dose250 and 500 mg/ kg BW/day for 5 days and their uterine wet weight were observed. Results and Conclusion: Mice treated water extract fraction of Num Tao Laung mice at 250 mg/ kg BW/day showed significantly increased uterine wet weight compared with OVX control (p < 0.05). This result suggested that water extract fraction of NumTao Laung can increase uterine wet weight. |
