| Abstract | RajaRam Mohan Roy was born on May 22, 1772, belonging to the Brahmin caste in the city of Mercedabad in the state of Bengal, India. The works of RajaRam Mohan Roy are many, both in writing and in their struggle for Hindu social reform. In addition, Roy founded the Spiritual Council to create understanding between religious people. There are two objectives of this article 1) to study the social philosophy of RajaRam Mohun Roy and 2) to study strategies for reviving and reconstructing Indian modernization of Rajaram Mohun Roy who was the father of modern India which used to study textbooks and related documents that analyze synthesize and compose by descriptive analysis. The study found that (1) the essence of the social philosophy of RajaRam Mohun Roy was developed based on monism and Eastern philosophy. Monism is that society can be one without the caste but Eastern philosophy developed based on rationalism and humanism. Roy has used reason as a tool to critique religious principles that cannot be explained by reason and the standpoint of Humanism, Roy borrowed this from Christian doctrine. The caste system is a fundamental problem in Indian social ontology therefore monism and humanism were able to solve social theoretical problems in India during the revival. The significance of social is freedom of speech through journals and the Brahmo Samaj association. In addition, (2) RajaRam Mohun Roy laid down important Strategies for Indian society, religious educational political, and social Strategies. All of Strategy is built based on a process of critical rationalism combined with Western humanism and utilitarianism. In Roy’s perspective, education is a fundamental indicator of social development. So, Roy began with a pinpoint in education by adding pragmatism to educational philosophy instead of Idealism, adding knowledge of modern science to the course of study, and using the process of interpretation to create new meanings in religious principles to create a new social order to solve the problems of religious beliefs and rituals they are at the root of social problems. |
