| Abstract | This research article aims to present the phenomenon of Sroi Dokh Mak in its role as a symbol and cultural product of Mahasarakham Province. This research explains the Sroi Dokh Maknameandreputationandits culturalandhistorical contributiontothe Mahasarakham region in "Identity of Silk amid Capitalism for Economic Development, Maha Sarakham Province." The target groups used to collect data included woven fabric wise men, practitioners, and stakeholders in Mahasarakham Province. The data-collection tools used in this research were survey, structured and unstructured interviews, observation, group conversation, and photography. Data triangulation was also used in this research. Collected data was presented in the descriptive form. The research results are as follows ; The history of Sroi Dokh Mak woven fabric: it was found that historically woven fabrics had been connected to the people of Isan area for a long period of time and related the way of Isan life over time. Sroi Dokh Mak woven fabric was related to cultural identity that has been preserved and inherited handicrafts and patterns for a long time. It also plays an important role in demonstrating the symbolic identity of Maha Sarakham Province and has been made into a cultural product for enhancing the economy of thecommunity, foundationsandpolicies toencouragelocal villagers toturntoproduceproducts for use in distribution under the concept of capitalism. |
