| Abstract | Thisresearchaimstostudypublicparticipationconcerningculturalheritageconservation byusingacasestudyof theculturalheritageofvillagersin Khwae Village, Khwae District, Muang District, Maha Sarakham Province.This researchappliesaqualitative method.From anin-depth interview of the sample group, including local villagers, community leaders, and stakeholders. The research finds that the level of public participation of Khwae Village, Khwae District, Muang District, Maha Sarakham Province in cultural heritage conservation is low. Cultural heritage conservation is a public affair done by a State and community leaders. Local villagers are only participants in events held by government agencies or community leaders. There are a very limited number of projects initiated by local villagers. Ideas or opinions depend upon community leaders. In relation to forms of public participation, mostly there are disseminating information, promoting traditional events to people who are interested in, supporting in every matter, and participating in traditional events organized by government agencies or community leaders.The main reasons for villagers to participate in events are to continue culture from generation to generation and to participate in their own local tradition proudly. |
