| Abstract | The potential of the community of Lam Phok in Surin Province to properly manage a community-based tourism program was under consideration in this report. The community's strengths and weaknesses were identified, but the report focuses primarily on the capabilities andpotentialof thecommunityitself.Theresearcher reportedthat thecomponentsofcommunity based tourism highlight the area's natural surroundings, its versatile culture, and the community manager's ability to serve as liaison between various levels of managers and government officials. In addition, participation of community leaders, network associates and government officials means a community should maintain a high level of quality. As an example, one component of community based tourism program found that accommodations and tourism management models had poor quality. Other components of of Lam Phok community based tourism management program consider the display of attractive souvenirs, facilities, accommodations and tourism activities. When judging the staff and people in Lam Phok community, it was reported that they lacked knowledge about general information of tourism managing by community. Overall, the researcher found that Lam Phok has the potential to be developed by the community into a tourist attraction under the component structure as follows; 1) Community characteristics,2) Cooperativenetworkgroup,3) Increasing Community tourism's potential, 4) model scheme and tourism planning, 5) Cooperative network group development. |
