| Abstract | This study examined the relationship between Green Management Initiatives (GMIs) and the performance of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Anambra State, Nigeria. Specifically, the research explored how Green Human Resource Management (GHRM), Green Operational Practices (GOP), and Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) relate to SME performance. A survey research design was employed, and data were collected from 333 registered SMEs using structured questionnaires. The study utilized descriptive statistics to analyze respondent demographics and applied Pearson Product Moment Correlation to test three hypotheses at a 0.05 level of significance. Findings revealed a strong and statistically significant relationship between Green HRM and SME performance, indicating that environmentally aligned recruitment, training, and performance management practices positively influence business outcomes. Green Operational Practices also showed a significant correlation, suggesting that eco-efficient processes and energy conservation enhance cost-efficiency and regulatory compliance. Green Supply Chain Management presented the strongest correlation with SME performance, affirming that sustainable sourcing, packaging, and logistics contribute to competitiveness and customer satisfaction. The study concludes that Green Management Initiatives are not only strategic tools for environmental sustainability but also key drivers of improved performance in SMEs. The research contributes to the growing body of knowledge on sustainability in developing economies and offers policy-relevant recommendations for SMEs and government agencies. |
