| Abstract | The objectives of this study were to: (i) investigate the body of knowledge and local wisdom surrounding the dyeing of Ban Phon Praewa silk in Kalasin Province, concentrating on scientific procedures, community learning centers, and local scholars; and (ii) develop locally-based learning management systems for science courses. Two Praewa Ban Phon silk weaving group representatives were chosen as the samples for this study using a purposive selection process. The study tools included an in-depth interview form and an Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) form to assess the effectiveness and standard of the developed learning management systems. The analysis was carried out by contrasting the interview data from local academics, the examination of scientific theories behind natural silk fabric dyeing, and the IOC of learning management systems. The findings demonstrated that: (i) Praewa silk dyeing was a natural dyeing procedure, according to the body of knowledge developed through researching the local knowledge on dyeing Ban Phon Praewa silk fabric with an emphasis on the scientific method. Condensed tannin, a macromolecule mostly found in dicots, is responsible for creating the many natural colors in plants. The dying procedure complied with scientific theories on the qualities of natural coloring agents, plant coloring agents, and mordant dye. Indicating the validity and quality of the science learning management plans based on the local knowledge of Ban Phon Phrae Wa silk dyeing, the results of the creation and quality assessment of the learning management plans revealed that the sum of the IOC from all three experts was 0.84, which was greater than 0.50. The plans were suitable for the implementation of instructional materials. |
