| Abstract | This paper presents a ranking of the importance levels of knowledge areas and a result of competency level measurement of the construction Project Managers (PMs) in Lao PDR. The importance levels of knowledge areas were analyzed and ranked by Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, and their competency levels were also measured by Relative Level Index (RLI) from the perception of main stakeholders such as contractors, consultants, and project owners. The results of ranking have shown that time, quality, cost, and safety management were the main important knowledge areas for construction PMs in Lao PDR, respectively. However, the importance level ranking of knowledge areas for construction PMs were different among each stakeholder's perception. Moreover, the result of this competency level measurement has proven that the competency levels of construction PMs in Lao PDR were medium and low. In spite of that, in the perception of contractors, construction PMs' competency levels were higher than the competency levels perceived by consultants and project owners. |
