Abstract The focus of this study was to determine whether the factors of age and gender are related to accounting anxiety among MBA students who utilize English as a second language (ESL) in the classroom. A secondary focus was to determine if the factors of age and gender are associated with the coping strategies that are used by ESL students to deal with accounting anxiety. The study found that there was a statistically significant higher level of accounting anxiety among females than males but that anxiety did not vary significantly by age. In addition, neither gender nor age was significantly associated with the choice of a coping strategy.
