| Abstract | This study examined how information and communication technology (ICT) assists in bridging both cultural and language differences between Thai school administrators and foreign English language teachers. By combining a meta-analysis of four quantitative studies conducted over the last decade with a small cross-sectional survey of fourteen foreign English language teachers (n = 14) working in private primary schools throughout the northeastern provinces of Thailand, the study explored how ICT can facilitate enhanced communication effectiveness. Findings from the meta-analysis suggested a positive association between ICT utilisation and communication effectiveness (r = 0.59), although substantial heterogeneity across the included studies indicates that this relationship varies across institutional contexts. The survey component (n = 14) indicated a moderate positive association (r = .43) between ICT utilisation and perceived communication effectiveness; however, this finding is interpreted cautiously due to the small sample size. The findings further indicate that the effective utilisation of these available technologies is dependent on factors such as cultural awareness and sensitivity to linguistic differences. The effectiveness of ICT integration within educational contexts is strongly influenced by the presence of supportive leadership. The study concludes by providing practical suggestions that can improve communication between Thai school administrators and foreign English language teachers. This research offers a framework for schools seeking to further develop their intercultural understanding through the effective utilisation of ICT by offering further insights on both the technological and the human aspects of communicative interaction. |
