Abstract | This research aims to create and evaluate the performance of a semi-automatic coconut dehusking machine controlled by a Programmable Logic Controller(PLC).The machine-specific features areheight 210 cm Width 80 cm, Length, 100 cm,Weight 75 kg,Blade length 10cm, and maximum stroke cylinder 30 cm Hydraulic system (DC 24Volt 2kwand 0.010 m3tank capacity) was used as power unit to drive2 double-acting cylinders of 2.54 cm diameter with a flow rate of 0.1383 m3 s-1and speed of 4.2 m s-1PLC was selected to controlled thedevice in thissystem. Test results with 100 nuts coconuts sample found that the dehusking time is 10.68 s nut-1, operating capacity is 336 nut h-1the huskremained on nut isless than 20% and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is 96.75% The break-even point period is79.6 hyear-1when operate at 1.6 months. |
