Abstract | This descriptive research aimed to: 1) investigate the context, needs, and readiness of the community in promoting occupational skills of upper elementary school students, 2) study the participatory academic administration approaches to enhance occupational skills of elementary school students, and 3) examine the appropriateness and feasibility of the participatory academic administration approaches for enhancing occupational skills of elementary school students at Bansansuk School. Key informants consisted of three groups: the first group comprised 60 participants including local scholars, school board members, parents, and upper elementary students; the second group included 8 school administrators and teachers; and the third group included 7 vocational skills specialists and educational supervisors. Research instruments were focus group discussion protocols, appropriateness assessment form, and feasibility assessment form. Data were analyzed using content analysis, mean, and standard deviation. The findings revealed that:1. The majority of the community (80%) engaged in agricultural occupations and expressed a need for the school to promote occupational skills in three main areas: agricultural skills, trading and processing skills, and marketing and technology skills, with evidence of community readiness in terms of participation, learning resources, materials, and local expertise.2. The participatory academic administration approach should actively engage administrators, teachers, students, school committees, and community members, with each stakeholder having clearly defined roles in the occupational skills development process.3. The overall appropriateness of the participatory academic administration approach was at a high level (M = 4.41, SD = 0.58), and the overall feasibility was at the highest level (M = 4.55, SD = 0.50). |
