Abstract | The purposes of this research were to study the effects of analytical thinking in sex education on the sexual behavior of eighth grade male students. An experimental group of 27 male students studied sex education using an analytical thinking process, while a control group of 27 male students studied sex education by conventional teaching methods. The research included six activity plans using sex education based on analytical thinking process and sexual behavior tests. Data form the two groups were analyzed using the t-test.The research found that mean scores in the areas of knowledge, attitude, and practices concerning sexual behaviors for the experimental group:1) were significantly higher after education than before education, at the .05 level; 2) were significantly higher after education than for the control group, at the .05 level.Since sex education is taught, at least in part, to prevent students from unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. Students should be encouraged to participate in analytical thinking on the subject. The skills and knowledge they develop can be used in the students’ daily lives. |
