Abstract | The Creation of Thai Dance Performance with Cultural Capital, “Puang Rat Nom Thawai Phra Suriyothai,” is a creative research project. The objective is to create a Thai dance performance by the target group to be used in the ceremony to honor Phra Suriyothai. The concept of creating Thai dance was used along with the research methodology, data collection from academic documents, books, and textbooks. The tools used were informal interviews, which were used in the design and creation of the work. There were 6 informants involved in the creation of the work, and 5 performers. The research results found that the creation of Thai Dance Performance, Puang Rat Nom Thawai Phra Suriyothai, is a performance in the ceremony to honor Phra Suriyothai and consists of 6 creative design elements including 1) Performers, 2) Costumes and headdresses, 3) Makeup and hair design for the performance, 4) Lyrics, 5) Creative design of music to accompany the performance, and 6) Thai dance gestures. This performance is designed in the form of creative Thai dance using basic Thai dance moves from slow-fast songs and original dances as the main principle in creating the work. It also aims to praise Phra Suriyothai heroine through the unique Thai dance performance art of Siam to maintain its culture and integrate cultural capital with the research process for historical value through creative Thai dance. |
