Abstract | The research process used in this study was the Participatory Action Research (PAR). This study aimed to enhance stakeholders’ participation in the floating market planning process, and developed a model that enhanced local’s capability in community-based tourism management. The samplings consisted of 400 Thai and foreign tourists, the tourists’ need and satisfaction questionnaire was responded. Tourists’questionnaire was responded by 71 pilot tourists. There were 346 people in Don-Manora sub-district, who responded the opinion to tourism development questionnaire. The semi-structure interview form was utilized by 42 community leaders and business owners. The observation form was used. There were 265 local people participated in preliminary meeting. The focus group was set up for 10 participants who were tourists’specialist and managers, and thirty-five local people participated in the workshop at Don-Manora sub-district. Triangulation was used to verify data. The statistical analysis was employed in term of percentage, means, standard deviation and t-test. The finding indicated that Thai and foreign tourists needs were as follows: promoting on radio television and internet, local Thai food, learning local occupation, community culture brochure, local guide, and boat sightseeing. The workshop enhanced people to planning tourism development project namely: promoting destinations, improving landscape and facilities, conservation of local wisdom, environmental conservation, youth guide training, home stay training, Thai massage training, bicycling trail development. Research process led to the floating market management model based on 5 components; 1) tourism management 2) community participation 3) transportation 4) landscaping of tourist attractions 5) managing tourist programs package. The result to verify tourism management model found in high tourists’satisfaction level ( =3.52) and tourists’satisfied with local hospitality and merchant service. |
