Abstract | The objective of this study was to investigate combined compost and chemical fertilizers on the growth, yield, and economic returns of sweet corn. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with 7 treatments and 3 replications, including 1) control (no fertilizer, T1), 2) chemical fertilizer recommendation based on the Department of Agricultural Extension’s practice (FP, T2), 3) chemical fertilizer recommendation based on soil testing (FS, T3), 4) FP + compost at the rate of 1 ton/rai (T4), 5) FP + compost at the rate of 2 ton/rai (T5), 6) FS + compost at the rate of 1 ton/rai (T6) and 7) FS + compost at the rate of 2 ton/rai (T7). Sweet corns were planted in loamy sand soil from October 2023-January 2024. The results showed that sweet corn under chemical fertilizer and combined compost and chemical fertilizers application (T2-T7) gave higher growth and yield than control (T1). When considering economic return, the FP treatment (T2) gave the highest economic return (38,343 THB/rai). |
