| Abstract | This research aims to (1) study beliefs and rituals in Theravāda Buddhism, (2) examine the current state of beliefs and rituals related to Luang Pu Meechai and Luang Pu Wichai in the Naka Subdistrict community, Mueang District, Udon Thani Province, and (3) analyze these beliefs and rituals within the community. This qualitative research gathers data from documents and interviews with 25 key informants using structured interview guidelines, and the data is analyzed through comparative analysis to identify relationships between findings.Findings:1. Beliefs and Rituals in Theravāda Buddhism The beliefs and rituals in the Naka Subdistrict community reflect strong adherence to the Triple Gem. Villagers observe the Five Precepts, make merit on important Buddhist days, venerate Buddha images, and practice meditation to cultivate inner peace. The concepts of karma and the role of monks remain central to upholding morality and maintaining community harmony.2. The Current State of Beliefs and Rituals Related to Luang Pu Meechai and Luang Pu Wichai The beliefs and rituals associated with these revered monks play a significant role in four key aspects: 1. Personal Aspect: They inspire faith, are perceived as sacred, and serve as moral guides for ethical living. 2. Social Aspect: They foster community unity and reinforce the role of temples as community centers. 3. Economic Aspect: They contribute to religious tourism, local commerce, and community economic growth. 4. Cultural Aspect: They help preserve and pass down traditional rituals, strengthening the community’s cultural identity.3. Analysis of the Beliefs and Rituals Related to Luang Pu Meechai and Luang Pu Wichai The study finds that these beliefs and rituals provide psychological stability, reduce conflicts, and enhance community cohesion. They also support economic development and cultural preservation, contributing to the long-term peace and prosperity of the Naka Subdistrict. |
