Abstract | In Buddhist philosophy, change is a constant characteristic of all things. Everything is constantly changing. It is not perfect in itself. It arises from various components that come together, interact, and depend on each other as causes and conditions. It exists in the form of a continuous stream of birth and death without interruption. This transformation is a phenomenon that is not related to any creator or god. It is a natural phenomenon. However, it does not occur by chance, but rather depends on causes and conditions. It has order, rules, and a definite direction. This type of change is a metaphysical perspective. When it relates to human practice, it is considered ethics. This change creates two ethical values: 1. When experiencing change, humans can come to terms with it because they are aware of the natural law and have a free mind, unaffected by external or internal pressures. This is a spiritual value. 2. It induces mindfulness, and we expedite the necessary tasks to the best of our ability with a free mind, knowing that change is dependent on causes and conditions. This is a practical value. Therefore, the book being reviewed here is called “Changes According to the Theravada Buddhist Philosophy” of Phra Sri Sasanabandit (Suthat Tissarawadi/Learner) will therefore be a guideline that will help Buddhists and those interested, regardless of race or religion, to understand this book and provide benefits for learning and study, as a source of research on Buddhism and philosophy for those interested in the future, thus preserving and continuing Buddhism so that it will remain with the world forever. |
