| Abstract | This paper describes the results of an analysis of the communication structures and linguistic strategies used in the press conferences communication of the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration’s spokesman. Conversation Analysis (CA) and Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) methods were applied to the study. Data were collected from the press conferences videos 18 in a total of Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration from March 29, 2020, until July 19, 2020, on www.thaigov.go.th.The results revealed that there were 4 communication structures of a formal press conference of the centre for COVID-19 situation administration including 1) opening 2) elucidating and information giving 3) questions and answers and 4) exit from the press conference. The linguistic strategies used to press conferences communication of the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration was found that there were 5 linguistics strategies: 1) Intersentential cohesion 2) The use of medical and research 3) Personal experiences. 4) The use of statistics, graphs, charts, and tables, and 5) The use of the feeling-expressing word. |
