Abstract The purpose of this study was to study the effects of using a cooperative learning model on the social skills of junior high school students. The samples comprised 60 students from the seventh grade at a demonstration secondary school located in a public university of Thailand. Thirty students in the experimental group were assigned to study under physical education learning management by using the cooperative learning model, while the other thirty in the control group were assigned to study using the conventional teaching method. The research instrument was a social skills observation form. Data were analysed using means, standard deviations, and t-test. The research findings found that the experiment group had higher mean scores than before and had higher mean scores than the control group at a .05 level of significance after using the cooperative learning model.
