Abstract | This review presented the stages of the treatment process and comprehensively focusedon various flocculator types, including hydraulic, mechanical, and helical coiled tube (HCTF)flocculators, to assess their efficiency in water treatment. Each type was explained in detail, with its advantages and disadvantages, and when it is preferable to use it. This was done byreviewing many previous articles from 1986 to the current year 2024. These studies includedresearch into the components of each type or studied one of the types to calculate operationalefficiency or other advantages or disadvantages, and some of them included comparisonsbetween different types of flocculators. Recent advancements in flocculation technology, including innovations like automated control systems, optimized coagulant formulations, and energy-efficient helical coiled tube flocculators (HCTFs), have significantly improvedperformance. These technologies offer precise control over flocculation dynamics, reducingchemical usage, energy consumption, and maintenance costs, while also providing morereliable and sustainable water treatment solutions. This study confirms what scientists havepreviously observed and underscores the advantages of helically flocculators as a viable andefficient alternative, aligning with the growing demand for cost-effective and space-efficientwater treatment technologies. |
