Abstract | Characteristics of physical activity have been studied in individuals with Parkinsonโs disease (PD) but the benefits andperceived barriers are not well understood. This study aimed to describe the level of physical activity and the factors associatedwith physical activity in individuals with PD in Thailand. 87 individuals with PD were recruited. Questionnaires consideringdemographics, physical activity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, perceived self-efficacy, interpersonal influence andsituational influence with physical activity were recorded. Descriptive statistics and Chi-square tests, odd-ratio (OR) with 95%confidence interval (CI) revealed that 48% of individuals with PD were taking part in recreational physical activity, with 40% ofthese travelling to and from the activity by walking or using a bicycle, and 12% performing the activities at work. Physicalactivity had a statistically significant association (p<0.05) greater with perceived benefits and self-efficacy and lower withperceived barriers which helps our understanding of the benefits and perceived barriers in Thailand. |
