Abstract | The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a facial mask in enhancing skin absorption of iriflophenone3,5-C-?-D-diglucoside (1), iriflophenone 3-C-?-D-glucoside (2) and mangiferin (3). Partition coefficients (log Po/w) of 13 weredetermined. Facial essence containing Aquilaria crassna leaf extract was formulated and incorporated into a fabric facial mask.An in-vitro skin permeation of 13 from the formulation with and without the mask through human skin was evaluated usingFranz diffusion cells. Log Po/w of 13 were -1.03 ? 0.14, -0.54 ? 0.01 and 0.26 ? 0.01, respectively. The permeations of 13 fromthe formulation without fabric mask were only 0.26%, 0.58% and 0.61% of applied dose, respectively while those with the fabricmask were 0.79%, 1.08% and 0.70% of applied dose, respectively. In conclusion, the fabric mask enhances the skin permeationof the hydrophilic compounds 1, 2 more than that of compound 3, which is less hydrophilic. |
