Abstract | Tiliacora triandra (Colebr.) Diels is an indigenous plant in Southeast Asia belongs to the family of Menispermaceae. Ithas been widely used for cuisine and medicinal purposes since long time. Many studies have investigated and reported of itschemical constituents and pharmacological activities, however these data are scattered. Therefore, this article aims to review onits traditional uses, phytochemicals and pharmacological properties. Traditionally, this plant has been used for treatment ofvarious diseases such as fever, diabetic, hypertension, and gastrointestinal diseases. Many alkaloids, phenolic compounds, fattyacids, and essential oils were found in different plant parts. Numerous pharmacological studies have been reported supportingthose traditional uses such as antioxidant, neuroprotective, antidiabetic, antiplasmodial, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory,anticancer, and antimicrobial activities. Accordingly, this valuable plant seems to have a potential to develop as a functional foodand new drugs in the future. |
