Abstract In this research six sigma DMAIC was applied to improve machine efficiency in a case study factory representing textile industry. The company faced the problem of machine efficiency in its manufacturing process, especially with the most significant product that has the highest demand, Axminster carpet. The performance of Axminster carpet production has been lower than the target for a long time. The company anticipated a significant increase of the machine's efficiency. Therefore, Six Sigma DMAIC technique and improvement tools were applied to the prototype machine. Having divided the procedure into five phases: define, measure, analyze, improve and control, the solutions to the prototype machine's efficiency improvement were listed into six categories, training, designing new components, data analysis, improving documentation system, modifying some machine components and improving some material preparation methods. As a result, the final efficiency increased to 64.06%, which is 12.01%-point improvement from the initial 52.05% efficiency.
