Abstract | This study explored the occurrence of MRONJ and communication among orthopaedists and dentists regarding co-treatment in osteoporotic patients who received antiresorptive drugs in Nonthaburi province, Thailand by reviewing electronic medical record and interviewing both healthcare worker. In present day, antiresorptive drugs are the first choice of medication which orthopaedist use to treat osteoporosis in older adult patient. However, these agents have adverse effect which is called as medication related osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ) which involve with quality of life in patient. The result showed that communication among orthopaedists and dentists especially content regarding risk factors to MRONJ had limitation while prevalence of MRONJ was 0.168%(n=1,088). Tool of communication which participants preferred as mobile application. Furthermore, dentist participants expected to have coordinate guideline for caring patient.Although MRONJ in osteoporotic patient is rare adverse effect, the patient who had this condition likely feel suffer and moreover the goal treatment still discover. Therefore, prevention and treatment of MRONJ must rely on co-operation from viewpoint of orthopaedist and dentist. Proper information of factors which relate to(2)MRONJ and method for accessing this data which are comfortable probably support co-treatment. Finally, co-guideline and appropriate communication among both of healthcare worker including prevention of MRONJ before commencement antiresorptive drugs may be suitable way for management of this adverse effect. |
