Abstract The rising number of FTAs and the overlapping preferential integration referred to as the “Spaghetti Bowl” effect are often perceived as obstacles in international trade. This paper aims to untangle the “Spaghetti Bowl” effect in Thai commodity networks under current overlapping FTAs. In particular, this study bridges the gap between the classical trade theory and network analysis by employing Closeness, Betweeness and Eigenvectror Centrality indices in the extended Gravity Model. Based on Thailand's current adoption of FTAs, the analytical result reflected that the country is in the suitable direction, influenced by including the appropriate product groups in its accession list. Specifically, this adoption has enabled Thailand to significantly participate in the Global Value Chain in processing/manufacturing machinery, electrical intermediate parts, and finished vehicles. The overlapping preferential agreements on these commodities have also contributed to a favorable trade effect and increased export volumes.
