| Abstract | This study has the following objectives: 1) To examine baseline data and the needs for enhancing digital competencies for human resources in the modern automotive industry; 2) To design and develop a training curriculum and training manual; and 3) To evaluate the effectiveness and suitability of the curriculum and training manual using a research and development framework and a mixed-methods research approach. The sample group consisted of human resources in the modern automotive industry, academics, and relevant stakeholders from both public and private sectors. The research findings revealed that human resources require the development of digital skills related to emerging technologies such as IoT, AI, and Big Data to enhance work efficiency. The designed and developed training curriculum comprises 10 modules, covering both technical skills and digital technology management. The evaluation of the curriculum's effectiveness and suitability, based on a pilot implementation, showed that the trainees' knowledge and skills improved significantly at a statistical level of .05, and their satisfaction with the training curriculum was high. Curriculum experts agreed that the curriculum was overall suitable, with consistent content across all modules, and could be effectively applied to develop human resources in the modern automotive industry. This study recommends integrating the curriculum with educational institutions and developing an online training system to enhance learning efficiency. |
